A local supplier to Marks & Spencer is celebrating after securing a multi-million pound contract to supply an exclusive range of top-tier sausages to the retailer’s 686 UK and Ireland stores.
Downpatrick based Finnebrogue Estate has until now produced one third of the M&S sausage range and further investment in both state-of-the-art equipment and innovation has enabled the supplier to double its current business with the retailer.
Denis Lynn of Finnebrogue Estate said: “We are extremely proud of our long-standing relationship with Marks & Spencer during which time we have continued to consolidate and grow the business. This is testimony to the commitment of Marks & Spencer to sourcing the best local produce and Finnebrogue’s ability to meet the M&S customers’ demands for great tasting, quality products.
“Animal welfare is also an essential ingredient to the success of Finnebrogue, and by working with quality assured farmers around the UK and Ireland who share our passion’ we can transform the finest cuts of outdoor bred and organic pork shoulder and belly into award winning sausages exclusively for M&S.”
Such is the demand from M&S customers for Finnebrogue products that its Organic Chipolata Sausage is one of M&S’s top selling premium sausages and recently received an industry excellence award at The SuperMeat & Fish Awards.
By November, Finnebrogue plans to introduce some exciting new products to the M&S sausage range including Outdoor Bred Pork and Herb and Beef and Tewksbury Mustard varieties. Further new products will be incorporated, with the full range from Finnebrogue being available in M&S stores by February 2010.
Stewart Nisbet, Head of Foods for M&S in Ireland said: “Finnebrogue has been supplying sausages to M&S for over eight years and has continuously made changes to its product lines to meet customer needs and trends. By implementing a world class approach to new product development and originality, it has successfully maintained its name for good quality and pioneering products.
‘We are delighted to be expanding our relationship with Finnebrogue and will continue to show our commitment to making sure our suppliers receive all the support they need to manufacture superior products.”
